Patric Richardson, The Laundry Evangelist
Saturday, March 14, at 12:00 noon and 2:30 PM. Patric Richardson, The Laundry Evangelist, as seen on HGTV, Discovery+, and more, will be appearing.
As a child, Richardson loved clothes, both wearing them and caring for them. He was voted best dressed in eighth grade and in high school, setting the path for his future. He studied merchandising, apparel, and textiles at the University of Kentucky, then went on to an incredible career in luxury fashion at McAlpin’s, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom.
His time in these legendary department stores taught him two major lessons: incredible clothes are fun, and all clothing, regardless of price, can be cared for at home. In 2013, Richardson opened his designer vintage store, Mona Williams, where he carried a small, curated collection of fine laundry products that sparked curiosity among his Minneapolis/St. Paul customers.
That curiosity grew when the Star Tribune featured Patric and his love of laundering everything from cashmere sweaters to tailored suits at home. The publicity changed his direction and led him into the world of laundry and clothing care. Richardson began sharing his expertise at his popular and often sold-out Laundry Camps, teaching people new and better ways to care for apparel and home textiles.
These camps sparked a revolution, leading to his book, Laundry Love, now in its fourth printing, and his television show, The Laundry Guy, on HGTV and Discovery+. Richardson has been featured in local and national media, including Live with Kelly and Ryan, The Washington Post, Good Morning L.A., The Wall Street Journal, NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, The New York Times, WGN, Twin Cities Live, the Pioneer Press, GMA3, and The Tamron Hall Show, as well as international media including the BBC, The Globe, Daily Mail, and Die Welt.
